Oh lovely rose of summer

How beautiful you are
So fragile yet will bloom for days
Under the night time star

You stand in all your glory,
The garden’s queen for sure
Bright pink, soft white
Golden yellow, ruby red
Soft fragrance to alure
Your duties are so endless
A bride to be, a birth
You laid upon a casket
You laid upon their earth

You sat upon a table
For dinner or for cheer
To soften pain of patients ill
To them you were so dear
Oh lovely rose my fragile rose
God’s gift, so pure, so right
Remembered when the day is gone

As my eyes close for the night.
