“An accent is the unique way that speech is pronounced by a group of people speaking the same language.” (Words Of Wisdom)
The way we speak can be so diverse. Â Everyone speaks with an accent. Â We don’t think we speak with an accent and when someone says, “I love your accent”, if you’re like me, you think to yourself; “I don’t have an accent”!
Recently there was a poll taken of the sexiest accent in the world and the Irish Accent of Colin Farrell, Â Liam Neeson and Michael Fassbender won first place, hands down! Â I have to admit that having an Irish background causes me to agree with this 100%.

When I’ve travelled over to Northern Ireland to visit my relatives, I do notice the difference in accents of people who live in different parts of the country.
Accents reflect unique characteristics and background of a person and most people take great pride in their accents.
Can you identify where a person is from when you listen to them speak? Â I can easily identify someone from England, Scotland, France, Australia and Ireland; however, there are many accents that are difficult for me to distinguish.
The most interesting place to hear a variety of voices would be the airports.
When I do travel over to Ireland and will be standing in a store speaking to my cousin, I see people turn to look when I speak  They guess right away that I am a visitor from either the U.S. or Canada.  I live very close to Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. and citizens of Detroit have a unique way of speaking and I can tell right away they are from that area when I hear them talk.
Isn’t it wonderful that we are all unique in many ways! Â We can be so diverse yet also be the same!
